Staff Training

Protect and Respect

The Protect and Respect staff learning and development programme is aimed at all staff, regardless of role. The programme presents the University’s vision for a safe and inclusive culture and inspires staff to take an active role in promoting and maintaining this. It provides a space for engaging in conversation, exploring different perspectives and challenging biases. It encourages all staff to be active bystanders and enables them to recognise inappropriate behaviour and understand how best to challenge it.

It comprises three modules:

  1. Actively Building a Safe and Inclusive Culture - a 90-minute workshop held live online
  2. Being an Active Bystander - e-learning module
  3. Responding to Disclosures - e-learning module

Sexual Harassment

Our vision is “Sheffield Hallam: A Culture of Inclusion.” This means creating a diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment in which everyone feels they belong, irrespective of background or identity. To support our work in achieving this vision, three e-learning modules are available for staff to complete.

These modules play an important role in the University’s approach to meeting its requirements under the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 and Condition E6: Harassment and sexual misconduct - Office for Students

  1. Recognising Sexual Harassment – for all staff to complete
  2. Tackling Sexual Harassment in the Workplace – for all managers to complete
  3. Sexual Harassment: The Worker Protection Act – for anyone who needs knowledge of this legislation within their role
