Staff Training
1. Preventing and Addressing Harassment and Sexual Misconduct
Sheffield Hallam University's training programme for staff plays an important role in the University’s approach to meeting its requirements under the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 and Condition E6: Harassment and Sexual Misconduct - Office for Students.
We provide a blended training offer of online learning and face to face workshops for University staff that aims to:
- prevent and address harassment and sexual misconduct
- articulate our policy on intimate personal relationships between relevant staff members and students
- equip staff to respond to disclosures, provide suitable support and report incidents
- ensure confidence and knowledge in handling complaints – investigating and decision making
- explain how our obligations regarding Freedom of Speech sit in this context
All staff must complete mandatory training, tailored to their role. Face to face training is phased, based on need, and line managers will inform staff of their training requirements and how to join workshops.
We understand that in exceptional circumstances, staff may not feel comfortable completing the learning for personal reasons. If this is the case, you may opt out and alternative arrangements for this learning will be made in due course.
